With the New Year comes the time to ponder one’s career choice. Are you happy in your current job or career? If not you do have time to do something about it, even if you have been working for decades. Why not change careers and enjoy doing something you like for the remainder of your working life instead of staying put in something you do not enjoy. People are returning to college and trade schools in record numbers with many of them being older then the traditional college student.

In today’s society it does not matter if you are old or young, anyone can return to school to complete their education or start on a new career path. With the aging population many people have decided to enter the medical or health care field. While not everyone wants to spend 6 or more years in college to become a high paid nurse or doctor, there are many options for much less educational requirements to learn the skills needed for a professional and decent paying allied health care related job.

Remember a person is never too old to return back to school. Sometimes you even see on the news about how people who are 80+ return to college to earn that degree they always wanted. That is really exciting and motivational which should help inspire those who think they are too old to go after their career dreams. And with the health care industry in need of workers now is a great time to explore your options.

One of the more common ones is that of a medical assistant. There are many medical assisting schools located across the county that offer programs ranging from several month, but under a year, to those lasting longer then one year. Depending on your goals and circumstances one of those programs may be calling your name if you have an interest in healthcare.

If you have a LCD Monitor, handheld computer, Laptop computer, notebook PC, or any other device with an electronic LCD display, by now you must have understood what is the importance of the touch screen or the display is. It becomes almost impossible, without the Touch screen or the LCD, to use them.

However, the touch screen or the display is very delicate and at the same time is very much susceptible to dirt, scratches, dust, gouges, wear and tear, oil and grease. All these things make the display inoperable and also affect its longevity and, durability in the long run. Hence, it becomes very much important that you act accordingly and buy a screen protector.

Your home computer, whether it is a Laptop or just a desktop, is also vulnerable to all those threats. So, screen protectors are also for your home computers as well. Since you probably use your home computer very often it would be advisable to make sure you address this situation quickly. Apart from the above said benefits there are also some other benefits of computer screen protector or a laptop screen protector.

➢	A screen cover shows a good resistance to abrasion and chemical affects.

➢	Screen cases guards your computer screen against dents, dings, scratches and more.

➢	A laptop screen protector protects the screen of your laptop during travel, shipping and during daily usage.

➢	Screen protectors defends your valuable displays at a cost much minimal than the cost of the screen replacement. Hence, economically also it is great.

➢	Cleaning process becomes much easier.

➢	More so, you would be able to disinfect the same with germicidal sprays and wipes. No other hard core methods are required for disinfecting procedure.

➢	You do not have to spend much on expensive cleaning products as common house-hold products would serve the purpose, which normally would ruin your computer screen.

➢	Application is very easy.

➢	No bubbles and would stay in place even when the notebook computer is closed.

When buying your screen cover do remember some points in mind. First and foremost, shop for your screen protector as you did while buying your electronic device. Buy one which totally defines your requirements and from some one who you feel is authentic and reliable as well. No doubt, placing a screen protector is a very small investment but worth for the longevity of your computer screen

Seven Strategies for Finding a Job – How to Use LinkedIn.com

(This is the second article in a series of seven offering a professional job-hunt strategy that will bring real results.)

LinkedIn is an online network comprising over 20 million professionals and 150 industries. Here’s how to use LinkedIn to find jobs. It is an incredibly useful network to find your next job. To access the network, you must register and create a profile that describes your skills and accomplishments. This profile can then be found by former co-workers, clients, and potential new employers. Through LinkedIn, your connections are “linked” to the connections of everyone on your network, the people they know, and so on. You can see how this network ultimately connects you to thousands of other individuals. You can use LinkedIn to find business opportunities, jobs, potential clients, and service providers. The more connections in your network, the greater the chance that recruiters and employees will see your profile when they are looking for candidates. According to LinkedIn’s own statistics, individuals with more than 20 connections are 34 times more likely to be contacted about a job opening than those with fewer than five connections.

The single most important thing to do when registering with LinkedIn is to spend time creating the best possible profile. Your profile is the first thing people will see, and it is the element that makes you “findable” by potential employers. Posting a profile at LinkedIn increases your visibility in the job market.

A good profile covers your current and past employment, education, industry of interest, and any websites you are associated with. You should also consider adding a photo; a headshot is recommended. Then include all the keywords and skills you’re using in your resume to make it easy for people to find you. Adding recommendations from previous employers is highly advisable, since these tend to have considerable weight with potential employers.

You can improve your “connectability” at LinkedIn by writing your profile as if it were an executive biography, including details about your work experiences, names of companies you’ve worked for, information about your education and professional affiliations, and relevant activities. You should also place a link to your profile in your e-mail signature.

It’s also possible to use LinkedIn to do research about a potential employer or company and discover the names of the specific individuals you should contact about job positions at a chosen company. The Advanced Search feature of LinkedIn allows you to improve the relevancy of a job search by finding people with similar educational and work profiles and learning where they work. Use the job search feature to find job listings.

LinkedIn can be used to contact former bosses and employees, to request endorsements from past employers and clients, and to find people in your local area that work in the industry you’ve targeted for your job search.

General Tips

1)Make it easy for people to contact you by adding your e-mail address to your last name (as in YourName(linkedin@myemail.com)
2)Include information about things you’re passionate about. Let the people reading your profile know something about you beyond your work experience.
3)Add information about your education to your profile.

This is Article Two in the series “Seven Strategies for Finding a Job.” These strategies have proven effective, and if followed, will lead you to a new job in less time than you might expect.

Use

Nuclear engineers research and develop the processes, instrumentations, and the system to create electrical energy from nuclear energy and radiation.

They design, develop, monitor, and operate nuclear plants to generate electrical power. They work in many different capacities include the nuclear fuel cycle—the production, handling, and use of nuclear fuel, and the the safe disposal and storage of nuclear waste. They also work on the development of fusion energy. Some specialize in the development of nuclear power for naval vessels or spacecraft; others work on the industrial and medical uses for radioactive materials.

Currently there are about 15,000 nuclear engineers in the United States today. Depending upon weather the government backs nuclear energy, that number could could grow at a moderate rate or accelerate at much faster pace if the country turns to nuclear energy to nuclear energy to stave off it’s dependence upon foreign oil. In the worst case scenario. The number of nuclear engineers needed over the next decade will grow about as fast as the need for all other industries. Nuclear engineers earn an median amount of $90,220 per year. The highest 10% of engineers earn over $124,000 and the lowest 10% earn just over $65,220. Education does pay off. Those nuclear engineers who hold a bachelor’s degree earn about $56,587 or a or a master’s degree, $59,167

Most job growth for nuclear engineers is expected to be for research and development or for engineering services. While no commercial nuclear plants have been built in the United States for decades, nuclear engineers are needed to operate existing plants. Defense-related areas is another sector in need of nuclear engineers.

Overall, nuclear engineers should expect good employment opportunities because the small number of nuclear engineering graduates is likely to be in rough balance with the number of job openings.

To be successful as a software engineer, you need to have a good understanding of business basics, knowledge in the area of design methodology, and be very good at communicating your ideas. The minimum educational requirement for a software engineer is the BS degree in computer science. You must also be familiar and comfortable with specific computer languages, such as C++ and Java.

Pay for software engineers varies according to the number of years in the field, level of education, and geographic location of the job. For example, new graduates from a top university in California may receive starting pay totaling between $45,000 and $60,000 annually. Performance bonuses are also common in the industry, as are profit sharing plans and stock-purchase programs. Stock is often used in place of base salary in a new start-up company.

Software engineers may advance to the position of Software Architect. This individual is responsible for breaking down a complicated application into smaller and more manageable pieces during the design phase. The software architect needs to understand the function of each component, the interactions and relationships between components, and then be able to communicate these elements to developers.

Software engineering refers to a way of developing computer software that is midway between art and science. Software engineers design and create computer software. They work with both the business and programming functions and may or may not be involved with the actual coding work. Software engineers need to be able to communicate well and enjoy being team players. These professionals are often responsible for explaining business functions to programmers and technology elements to non-technical business people. In essence, they represent a bridge between “techies” and “non-techies” in a company.

One major difference between a coder and a software engineer is the amount of paperwork associated with the engineer position. Individuals currently working as software engineers report that about 70 percent of the job is paperwork - chiefly getting all software designs approved by various managers and technical authorities throughout a company is the source of the amount of paperwork needed.

Civil engineers have the unique distinction of designing and supervising the construction of our nations roads, levies, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water supply and sewage systems.

They are many factors that go into the design process such as construction costs, structural longevity, maintenance costs along with government regulations and environmental considerations such as earthquakes and hurricanes.

Civil engineers are one of the oldest engineering disciplines, encompasses many specialties. The major ones are structural, water resources, construction, environmental, transportation, and geotechnical engineering.

Many civil engineers hold supervisory or administrative positions, from supervisor of a construction site to city engineer. Others may work in design, construction, research, and teaching.

Currently there are 256,000 civil engineers in the United States. The need for new civil engineers is expected to grow about 18% over the decade. That is faster than the average for all other occupations followed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This is due to the need to improve our nations infrastructure including transportation, water, supply, pollution control systems along with buildings and other civil projects.
